To help riders explore the area here are tow of our favorite local and easily accessible trail systems.

Norway Ridge (for info visit thunderbaytrails.org)

Multiple loops of 2 track available with plenty of single track off shoots to keep you entertained.  Norway is a perfect trail system to learn and hone your MTB skills but can also be a great ride for intermediate to advanced riders who want to work on advanced techniques and “drop the hammer”.  Nothing on this trail is excessively long or extreme making it the perfect place for anybody new to Mountain Biking or those who want a place to practice their skills.  Check out the STRAVA app to if you are looking to challenge yourself on any number of the single track sections and compete with other riders.

Chippewa Hills Pathway (thunderbaytrails.org)

Intermediate to advanced riders are at home on this trail system.  Enjoy miles for rolling single track with tight S-curves turn sections and aggressive technical climbs.  Not quite ready to attack the single track? There is also miles of 2 track road with some great hills and climbing.  Chippewa is the perfect system to put some of those new skills developed out at Norway to the test.  Keep an eye out each fall for the Chippewa Hills MTB race, the best race you’ve never heard of (facebook.com/chippewahillsmountainbikerace) 2014-08-30 09.27.49-1

Keep an eye on the Performance Locker Facebook page or ask to join the Facebook group “Cycle Alpena” for updated info on group MTB rides in the area.

Join us this Summer for Group Rides. All levels welcome, beginner friendly ride out at Norway Ridge pathway and other locations. Beginners and first time riders will be taken on a tour of the trails with plenty of opportunities to ask questions and learn from riders who know the area and the sport well.
